Long Wharf is one of the city’s oldest landmarks. It began in the early 1700s as a commercial hub, built from granite and timber, and much of its layout still follows that original design. The wharf extends straight into the harbor, a visible link between Boston’s early trade routes and its current rhythm of tourism and business. Warehouses have turned into restaurants, offices, and a handful of upscale residences. Some newer Boston apartments here echo the same architectural principle with narrow facades, strong vertical lines, and big windows that open toward the water.
